Eastlake – The Lake County Captains won the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Peoria Chiefs, 5-1, for their sixth straight victory.
In the second game of the doubleheader the Peoria Chiefs won 4-1.
After the Peoria Chiefs scored a run in the top of the first in the first game, the Captains scored five unanswered runs throughout the rest of the seven inning game.
The Captains made the score 1-1 in the bottom of the second when Yordys Valdes drove in a run with a single.
The Captains then took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth when Valdes again singled to drive in two more runs to make the score 3-1.
The Captains added a couple of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when Junior Sanquintin hit a two run home run to make the final score 5-1.
In the first game the Captains were led offensively by Valdes (2-3, 3 RBI), John Ingle (2-3), Dayan Frias (2-3), and Junior Sanquintin (1-3, Home Run and 2 RBI).
In the second game the Captains the Captains got a run in when Valdes hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Captains complete their 12 game homestand on Sunday afternoon.
