Tonight, was the last RAW to get everyone hyped up one last time for the MEGA 25th anniversary show next week. Try as they might, they did their best, some things hit, some failed miserably. Let’s get right to it! We can start from the beginning.
The show opens up with Braun Strowman being fired for his actions last week.
HIT – No one saw it coming, we knew it wouldn’t last, but still, cool while it did because you just knew this meant a classic Braun rampage in which he would tip over everything in sight.
Cesaro & Sheamus lost to Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews
HIT – Again, a cool surprise factor as no one had Team Titus winning this one. Even with the Jason Jordan distraction, still a cool way to keep Team Titus somewhat relevant and fans engaged.
Cedric Alexander defeats Tony Nese
MISS – This 205 Live thing needs to end, or at least keep them away from the microphone. They have no clue what they are doing. Replacing the suspended Swan with a token replacement in Cedric Alexander for obvious reasons, is so incredibly insulting. This division was finally starting to improve with great matches such as Austin Aries vs Neville, now sadly, both have left the company. Oh yeah, Goldust was a part of this bizarre exchange as well.
The Braun Strowman rampage continues until Stephanie McMahon calls Kurt Angle and forces him to rehire Strowman.
HIT – Brilliant booking. Why would she force Angle to re-hire him unless it was a direct order from HHH so he can comeback and jump him at the Royal Rumble and then challenge him at WrestleMania.
Asuka defeats Nia Jax by injury
HIT – Not sure how they can reward this match to Asuka, she didn’t actually win. Either way, a cool way to keep Jax looking strong as she wasn’t pinned or submitted. Can Asuka win the rumble? I have to believe she is the favorite.
The Revival comes out, beats a couple of local jobbers then cuts a promo against the legends returning next week.
MISS – It is cool to see them back in ring. But this was terrible and it just makes it crystal clear next week that they will get beat up by either the APA or New Age Outlaws, if not both.
Roman Reigns defeats The Miztourage
MISS – Pointless. Doesn’t do anything to get me excited for their match next week.
Sonya Deville defeats Sasha Banks
MISS – They love having Banks lose. Why to Deville? To keep Absolution looking strong after you have squashed them several weeks in a row?
Matt Hardy defeats Heath Slater
MISS – Hardy is great on the microphone and cutting “The Woken” promo’s, but this match was clearly lacking.
Seth Rollins defeats Finn Balor in a classic!
HIT – Every time these two hit the ring together it is magic. Hoping this is a WrestleMania main event one day. Two of the very best in the game today!
