Windham, OH- Hi, my name is Zack Turk, and I am a senior at Windham High School. I have been playing
basketball since elementary school with my fellow senior teammates Lucas Churchill and Chase Eye. The
three of us have a great relationship both on and off the court, which has allowed us to be confident,
and play well together.
Chase Eye is our powerhouse and has ended his senior year with some great accomplishments. He hit his 1000 points mid-season and ended the year with 1136 points. He was named the Portage County “All Glue Guy,” he was named Portage County “Player of the Year,” and he was awarded first-team all NAC.
Lucas Churchill is an energetic, steal the ball kind of guy, and he ended his senior year with 567 points, and was awarded Honorable Mention all NAC.
I, myself, feel like I am a multi-role player who does what is needed in hopes of winning, whether it’s rebounding or blocking. I was awarded the Portage County “All Glue Guy” my junior year, ended my senior year with 449
rebounds and I was awarded Honorable Mention all NAC.
We had an exceptional ride this year under new head coach Cody Apthorpe. One of the best things I like about Coach Cody Apthorpe is his speeches about how we need to be physically ready, and how we need to mentally prepare ourselves for every game we play. It is bittersweet that we only had one year under Coach Cody Apthorpe, and I think the other two seniors would agree.
A lot of us were lucky enough to have played under coach Marty Hill too. We were 2023 NAC conference champions this year and the last time the Windham Bombers won was back in 2018 under the veteran long time Coach,
Marty Hill.
Our team advanced to the district semi-finals this year, but we had a disappointing loss to JFK. Overall. Our team went 15-10 this year including the playoff games, our overall record for our four-years of high school was 48-41, and we had some great games that we only lost by two points.
The future of Bombers Basketball team is in great hands under this year’s new coaching staff and all its players. Carlos Bruton and Jack Eye are returning varsity teammates that have amazing potential and talent. They have both evolved over this year very physically, mentally, and more confidently. The other upcoming players have some great skill set also but will just have to transition into their roles as varsity players.
I look forward to coming back and watching my team from the other side and supporting them.

Turk. My little Wendy’s buddy. That was very nicely said and done. Remember the sky isn’t the limit when there’s footprints on the moon. Keep stiving buddy and I hope college goes great for you. Btw I only seen and read this because it’s all over fb.

Well written by a team first player. That attitude will continue to serve you well Zack.
