1. Good early defense
For the second straight game, head coach Tyronn Lue was aggravated with his team’s defensive effort after a win against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night. He was so aggravated in fact, that he sat down at the podium and began speaking before a question was even asked in his post-game press conference, talking about the team’s poor perimeter defense and how the bench bailed them out.
Now, for a third game in a road, the Cavs are facing a young team looking to pull an upset. As Sam Amico noted, the Nets are leading the league in scoring with 123.5 points per game. But as good as they are offensively, they are that bad defensively, giving up 122.5 points per game, the second worst in the league.
#Nets lead league in scoring at 123.5 per game. They're also second in points allowed at 122.5. That's 246-return-to-the-old-ABA glorious points every night. All that's missing are bell-bottom jeans and the Spirits of St. Louis. #NBA

The bottom line is this: The Cavs need to come out fast and avoid digging themselves into a hole like they have over the last two games against Chicago and the Orlando Magic.
