To put it in perspective, for this past week you would have had to score 140.20 points in the tournament to win compared to 124.10 for the double up. That sixteen point difference includes Dixon (5.4), Santos (5), and Hankerson (1.8). I could have won with six guys in the double up but needed everyone but Hankerson in the tournament. That also includes being saved by a last second Bell touchdown.
While the big life changing money isn’t there for double ups, your chances of consistently finishing in the top 20% isn’t great either. If you miss the one guy that has a monster week or you have a guy go down in the first quarter with an injury you just cost yourself a likely top 20%. However, you may be able to overcome it and finish in the top 44% in a double up as I just demonstrated.
So since I’m bashing the tournaments why even enter it then?
The reason is for that risk vs. reward. If you do a low value tournament you’re looking at a moderate risk vs. a moderate reward. You put in five dollars and say you win two weeks out of six and one you double up and the other you did well enough to win $25.
You are still walking away even at the end of the day there but you give yourself a chance to win a few hundred if you put together an insane team.
