Breshad Perriman- A former first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens. Perriman had injury issues to start his career, then had problems catching the football. Perriman was then waived by Baltimore and later released by Washington. The Cleveland Browns took a chance on Breshad and I think a lot of Browns fans would agree with me when I say the gamble paid off. After Cleveland traded Josh Gordon to the Patriots, Cleveland no longer had a big body deep threat at wide receiver. Perriman is 6’2 and 211. Gordon isn’t much bigger. I think you realize what I’m getting at. Perriman made some big plays for Cleveland, including those two huge passing plays from Baker Mayfield and the backup QB, I’m kind of kidding, Jarvis Landry.
Cleveland, despite what some people say, no longer has the worst WR core in the NFL. With Antonio Callaway to stretch the field, Landry as a great slot receiver and great hands, Rashard Higgins and David Njoku who, all of the sudden learned how to catch a football, I think Perriman fills that hole that Gordon left when Cleveland traded him. By no means am I saying Cleveland shouldn’t try and add quality to the WR position, I just feel it’s not as high a priority as some may think.
I know that a lot of people want the Browns to go out and sign free-agents, which I don’t have a problem with, but be smart. Cleveland needs to Make sure they keep the quality talent they already have. I would like to see Cleveland use free-agency more so for depth purposes.
Having depth is one thing, having quality depth is what really helps a team get where they want because let’s face it, injuries are apart of the game and you need quality behind your starters.
