BEREA, OHIO– With leading scorer Jalen Dixon out for an extended period due to a knee injury suffered last week, Berea-Midpark is likely to have some games like Tuesday where points are hard to come by. Westlake was able to take advantage of the Titans’ scoring woes and, thanks to a strong second quarter, emerged with a 51-41 victory. The Demons outscored Berea-Midpark 20-9 in the second period, and that margin proved to be the winning one.
Westlake’s Anthony Rego sparked the Demons with eight points in the second quarter, and the junior forward led all scorers in the game with 21. Senior guard Tommy Lazevnick added 11 points. Berea-Midpark’s junior forward Omar Siggers scored 11 to lead the Titans.
Westlake (6-7) amassed a large rebounding advantage in the game and eliminated most second-shot opportunities for the Titans. Berea-Midpark (6-6) forced 11 fourth quarter Westlake turnovers, but the Titans weren’t able to convert enough of those extra possessions into baskets to make a serious run.
