For the first 15 minutes of the game, it looked as though a major upset was brewing as Westlake moved the ball on the Eagles while stopping the Avon high powered offense on a few key third downs.
Avon was able to force 4 turnovers on the course of the night and scored 35 points in the 2nd quarter to stun the Demons and took a 35-0 lead into the break.
Westlake did manage to score in the third on a nice drive capped off by a 5 yard TD pass from Jacob May to Tyler Malin and Logan Rummel kicked the extra point. On the ensuing kickoff Westlake successfully executed an onside kick and drove down the Avon 1 yard line at the start of the 4th quarter but could not punch it in.
JJ Coleman followed up last weeks performance with 25 carries for 117 yards. May was 12/21 for 96 yards and Jacob Jablonski and Dylan Bednar each had 4 catches on the night. Jackson Gregroy and Connor Gregory each recorded sacks for the defense while Joe Paul led the team in tackles and had an interception.
The Demons will return home next week as they host Midview (0-6) in the annual homecoming game. Parade starts at 5:30 and kickoff is set for 7:00 pm. The king and queen will be announced before the game.
