The fans have voted and we have a runaway winner for NEOSI’s Player of the Week. Bringing home 86% of the 587 votes cast, Aurora’s Sam Retton is this week’s winner.
In their 56-13 victory on the road at Kent Roosevelt, Retton did it all for the Greenmen. The senior had 64 yards receiving and two touchdowns, but that’s not where he did his most damage. The speedster took two kickoffs back for touchdowns and nearly had a third before he was tripped up inside the 10. The win improved Aurora to 6-1 and they host the Barberton Magics (4-3) Friday night.
As always, hats off to our other candidates: Ryan Kerscher (Walsh Jesuit), Ethan Holbrook (Avon), Danny Stoddard (Medina), and Alex Symons (Lakewood). All four turned in impressive performances that lead their teams to victory.
Week 8 action kicks off Friday night and fans are treated to yet another loaded schedule. See an impressive performance? Let us know on Twitter and your pick could be one of next week’s candidates! Be sure to follow @NEOSportsInside for more high school football coverage!
