Believe it or not, Week 7 of the high school season is upon us and only four regular season games remain before the playoffs. Before we look ahead to this week’s matchups, it’s time to look at some of the top performances from last week. A difficult task, we’ve narrowed it down to four candidates for you, the fan, to choose from. Who should be named NEOSI Player of the Week? Have your voice heard in the poll below and stay tuned Thursday for the results! Poll closes Thursday at noon.
Hudson Devins, Berea-Midpark
Titans junior Hudson Devins broke the school’s single game rushing record in their 48-7 victory over Amherst. On only nine carries, Devins racked up a jaw-dropping 256 yards and four touchdowns. Berea-Midpark improved to 3-3 and 2-1 in the SWC with the win.
Darreon Fair, Cleveland Heights
After his appearance in last week’s poll, the Tigers senior turned in another dominant performance. In their 56-28 win at Strongsville, Fair carried the ball 17 times for 274 yards and four touchdowns. He kept the Mustangs defense off balance all night as Heights improved to 6-0.
Sam DeTillio, Avon
A familiar name to NEOSI readers, Sam DeTillio only needed one half of football to put up his impressive performance. The Eagles senior went 12-16 throwing for 312 yards and four touchdowns in their 63-7 win over North Ridgeville. The win improves Avon to 5-1 and 3-0 in the SWC.
Scotty Fox, Mentor
In their GCC opener, the Cardinals sophomore QB led the way to a 35-14 win on the road at Brunswick. Fox was 32-47 throwing the ball with 264 yards and all five Mentor touchdowns. The win moved the Cardinals to 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in the GCC.
