The time has come to crown the Week 3 NEOSI Player of the Week. With four deserving candidates, it came down to the wire. With 456 votes cast, the winner is running back Marco Cirigliano of Columbia. Coming off an All-Ohio season last year, the junior is making his case to bring home the honor again.
In the Raiders 42-41 overtime victory over Northwestern, Cirigliano carried the ball 44 times for 405 yards and a touchdown. In the age of the spread offense, not many teams have one guy carry the ball 44 times, but Cirigliano made each carry count. On the season, Cirigliano ranks 4th in the country with 827 yards, according to MaxPreps. Columbia kicks off conference play this week when they host Black River (0-3).
Congratulations to our other three nominees: Kyle Snider, Lamar Sperling, and Collin Dixon. Not only did all three turn in impressive week three performances, but they are also in the midst of great seasons and will be key to their success going forward.
