INDEPENDENCE, OHIO– The Cavaliers may be off to a bit of a slow start this season, and even had a team meeting today to address some of these issues.
But maybe, just maybe, the epic Halloween party they had last night will help to ease some of their early-season growing pains.
Yes, last night was LeBron James’ annual Halloween bash that took over timelines, newsfeeds and Snapchat stories.
After practice today, an animated Kevin Love walked media through some inside party information. Love said that he thinks James’ Pennywise costume from the film & novel “It” made him about 7-2. He also said his personal favorite was Kyle Korver’s Willy Wonka costume that included a golden ticket and Oompa Loompas.
There was also the moment where he called over rookie Cedi Osman, who went as Freddy Krueger, just to have him introduce himself to the media scrum as “Cedi Krueger,” and to tell us that it took about two hours to both put on and take off his costume makeup.
And while these are all great anecdotes, Love also said that the party itself helped to lighten the mood as the team tries to navigate their rough start.
“I think it definitely lightened the mood,” Kevin Love said. “It was definitely a get-to-know-you moment with a lot of guys. So I think guys really, not to talk about the party again, brought it and it was fun and for team camaraderie purposes, we all get along, have fun, but I think in some odd way it will definitely help us.”

Q: You flew in a makeup artist and still did not win couples contest can you discuss your disappointment?
LOVE: I am very disappointed. There was some stiff competition this year. Willy Wonka was unbelievable. He had a set of four. There was a golden ticket and two Oompa Loompas, it was unbelievable. Channing was great. Bron was about 7-2 because the head of the Pennywise costume made it extra, just EXTRA. Khal Drogo, Tristan was great, Game of Thrones, Game of Thrones fans.
Q: Did you get a vote?
LOVE: No vote. It was rigged, it was rigged. It was a fixed job, an inside job. I would’ve voted. The whole night—Kyle’s costume. The whole night he looked just like the new school Willy Wonka, like, who played him? Johnny Depp. He looked just like him it was perfect.
Q: How long did the makeup take?
LOVE: Makeup? How about this though? Listen. I’ll talk about basketball in a minute. … Cedi. His makeup, Freddy Krueger took two hours to put on, two hours to take off. So that’s my answer to that question.
Q: Cedi Krueger?
LOVE: Cedi Krueger. He said he was up til like 4 a.m. Ask him. Cedi! I’m conducting this today. I can’t wait to see this on Cavs.com. Come here, step in right here. Tell everybody—introduce yourself as Cedi Krueger. How long did the makeup take?
OSMAN: Like two hours, two hours and 15 minutes.
LOVE: And how much to take off?
OSMAN: 1:45
LOVE: All right, get outta here.
Q: Did all the guys show up to the party?
LOVE: Uh yeah, just about. Either that or I didn’t know who some of the guys were who had the full masks on but yeah. Nobody snuck in. Haunted house was great too. I know you were asking me about that on social media.
Q: Any special cookies?
LOVE: Not that I can remember. We did it downtown last year, where you have to, where they lock you in a room what’s it called, and you have all the clues and you have to get out—escape room. We had one of those as a full team event it was cool. Anything else?
Q: Ty today said he thought you guys–
LOVE: Ty didn’t show up to the party.
