It Wasn’t an Easy Day to Be Browns Executive VP of Football Operations Sashi Brown

From the moment that Browns Executive VP of Football Operations Sashi Brown took the stand in Berea for his midseason press conference, you could sense that it was going to be a showdown after all the failures the team had to deal with last week during their bye.

Brown was hammered for the failed trade that didn’t bring Bengals backup quarterback A.J. McCarron to the team, the misses in the draft for QB’s Carson Wentz and DeShaun Watson, and the reported friction between the coaches and front office.

Here’s some of what Sashi had to deal with:

On the Coaching Staff and Front Office and Relationship:

“Good. These builds are challenging, and they do place a lot of adversity on organizations. I think organizations’ and individuals’ characters come out. Character comes out in those circumstances, and obviously, not going to sugarcoat anything, last week was a tough, tough week for us from a PR perspective and things that we can get better on, but the groups are working together and working hard. We will continue to but we understand while we haven’t had the results we aspire to that those are going to be the types of stories that come out. Now, we have to do everything we can to stay unified, and I think that is the key ingredient towards making this a successful effort on both parts, and we will get there.”

Hmmm….over and over it’s been stated that the front office and coaching staff are fighting like cats and dogs, and yet Brown says that the relationship is ‘good’. Of course it’s his job to put on a good spin on the situation, but clearly from anyone looking in you can’t say it’s a ‘good’ relationship right now.
