3. In the end, this season always felt fated to end this way
By now you well know the drama that has surrounded the 2017-18 Cavaliers. From trades, to locker room meetings, to soup throwing, to elimination games, they have run the gamut.
At times during the regular season, it felt like they wouldn’t even make the playoffs. During their opening round series with Indiana, it felt like there wouldn’t even be a second. Against Boston, it felt like a fourth trip to the Finals would be just out of reach.
This team was pardoned in the 11th hour too many times to count. But ultimately, when you consider they needed to be spared that many times by LeBron James’ greatness, it always seemed to be the obvious answer that no amount of roster overhaul would be able to save this team from this fate.
In the end, the only thing that wasn’t dramatic about the Cavaliers was the last moments of their final game.
