Kylan Steuball threw for three touchdowns and the VASJ Vikings added three additional touchdowns on the ground to defeat Kenston 43-14 and advance to the third round of the OHSAA playoffs.
VASJ took a 7-0 lead with 6:09 left in the first quarter when Steuball connected with Johnny Vuraich for a 23-yard touchdown pass.
VASJ extended their lead when David Jones returned a fumble 90 yards for a touchdown. After the successful two point conversion, VASJ led 15-0 with 11:02 left in the second quarter.
VASJ got their third touchdown of the game with 2:37 left in the second quarter when Bo Jackson scored on a 53-yard touchdown run.
Kenston then scored right before halftime on a touchdown pass from Lucas Kaltenbach to Brandon Bell to make the score 22-7.
After halftime VASJ scored three touchdowns on two touchdown passes and a touchdown run while Kenston scored on a touchdown run.
VASJ quarterback Kylan Steuball found TJ Moore and Christian Chase open for touchdown passes and running back Amani Powell had a touchdown run during the second half.
Kenston’s touchdown after halftime came on a Sean Patrick touchdown run.
Kenston finishes their season with an excellent 10-2 season record.
With the playoff victory, VASJ now 9-3, avenges a 49-27 loss to Kenston during week four of the regular season.
VASJ advances to the third round of the OHSAA playoffs where they will face Ursuline who is 12-0 on the season.
In the Friday, November 10th matchup, VASJ will have the opportunity to avenge a 38-18 loss against Ursuline during week eight of the regular season.
