The Vikings are now 4-8 on the year and were coming off a 79-62 win over Lake Erie on Monday, Dec. 19. After the win, Belmont is 6-4 this season and has now won four of its last five.
This game was the second all-time meeting in men’s basketball between CSU and Belmont. The Vikings won the first meeting last season, 67-65 at home on Dec. 19 thanks to a last second shot from Demonte Flannigan.
The Vikings trailed by five at the half with 12 points from Rob Edwards; 35-40. The Vikings were not out of reach by any means.
In the second half, the Vikings offense would stall as the Bruins would score 21 unanswered points in a span of more than 8 minutes.
Anthony Wright would finish with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Edwards and Flannigan would combine for 25 points.
Evan Bradds would finish with 19 points leadings all scorers and recording 7 rebounds for the Bruins.
Hopefully the Vikings can wipe the slate clean in a manner of speaking and collect themselves before they enter league play.
The Vikings open Horizon League play with two games at home next week. CSU hosts defending tournament champion Green Bay on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 7:00 PM and Milwaukee on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 3:30 PM.
