HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Cleveland State concluded its three game roadswing with a 70-55 setback at Northern Kentucky on Monday night at BB&T Arena.
CSU fell to 4-15 overall and 1-5 in the Horizon League, while NKU moved to 12-6 (5-1 HL).
Kasheem Thomas led the Vikings with 10 points and six assists, while Bobby Word scored nine points with three rebounds. Kenny Carpenter finished with seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds and Evan Clayborne added eight points and four boards and Dontel Highsmith chipped in seven points.
NKU opened up a 15-10 lead on a three-pointer midway through the first half, but three straight points from Kasheem Thomas and a bucket from Stefan Kenic tied the game at 15-15.
After the teams traded baskets, the Norse scored 11 straight points to take a 28-17 lead with 3:38 to play in the half. NKU hit a pair of threes during the run, as well as five free throws.
The Norse led at halftime, 37-21, while the Vikings outscored NKU in the second half, 34-33, including an 8-of-14 effort from three-point.
CSU returns home for two games this week, starting with a 7:00 pm game against IUPUI on Thursday (Jan. 18) in the Wolstein Center. The Vikings will also host UIC on Saturday (Jan. 20) at 3:30 pm.
