When the Cleveland Indians brought in Yonder Alonso this season with a contract through free agency, not many fans knew much about the slugger. Fresh off a career year with Oakland and Seattle in which he hit 28 home runs and poured in 67 runs, Alonso got off on the right foot with Cleveland fans.
Alonso stepped to the dish for the first time today as a member of the Indians against the Cincinnati Reds in the Spring Training opener. On his first pitch seen, he didn’t disappoint.
First pitch, first swing, first homer? Yeah, @YonderalonsoU will fit right in.

That’s one home run for Alonso as a Cleveland Indian, plenty more to come.
