VIDEO: JR Smith doesn’t get shot off to end 4th quarter because he thinks Cavs are ahead

OAKLAND, Calif.– Is this the play that will go down in series infamy?

The Cavs had a prime chance to steal Game 1 of the NBA Finals on the road against the Golden State Warriors, as George Hill headed to the free throw line with just under five seconds left and the Cavs down one, 107-106.

Hill split the pair of free throws, and the Cavs somehow came up with the offensive rebound. As J.R. Smith gets the ball, however, he thinks he is just dribbling out the clock, not realizing the Cavs are tied with the Warriors and not leading. As a result, they didn’t even get a shot up on the final possession.

The Cavs went on to lose the Game in overtime, 124-114
