“We got good running backs,” Malbasa said.” “We will run the ball 60% of time in our games because we have the players that can get yards and take us down the field.”
It didn’t take long for the Preppers to take the ball down field as they first scored on their first possession of the game coming from David Dolansky on a one-yard run. However, the running game was led by Junior running back Joe Kadlic and Junior quarterback Jayden Cunningham.
Kadlic scored in first two possession in the second quarter from eight yards and two yards out. Joe finished with 85 yards of rushing.
“Our linemen did their jobs today, credit to them,” Kadlic said. The Preppers continued to move the ball well. Cunningham went 11-for-16 in passing, he showed off his legs, scored on a quarterback draw to make it 28-0 finishing with 44 rushing yards. “I had a lot of time in the pocket and with the running game, I just found holes.” Cunningham said.
Central Catholic wouldn’t go down, as they finally got on the bored to cut the deficit to 28-8 before Kadlic would get in the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown run to close the half 35-8.
It was all US in the second half. Cunningham would showoff his arm for a 40-yard pass touchdown to senior receiver Brad Rehak.
The Ironmen scored twice in the forth quarter but the Preppers defense was just too much.
Up next: Central Catholic will travel to Youngstown to face Youngstown Valley Christian, while US hosts rival Gilmour Academy.
