PORTLAND, Oregon- What a month for UFC fans. In a September that hosted a fight card every weekend, what better way than to have the first day of October be a fight night. This is a great card, headlined by two bantamweights that are trying to make their mark in one of the most competitive divisions in the UFC right now. John Lineker looks to make his claim the strongest out of all of the bantamweight contenders, but John Dodson looks to jump into the title talk. Let’s break down the main card.
A fight between Zak Ottow and Joshua Burkman will be exciting, as both men can stop a fight at any time. Expect a finish, as I predict Zak Ottow will win by submission in the first round.
Another interesting fight is Louis Smolka versus The Ultimate Fighter contestant Brandon Moreno. Moreno is a good fighter, but he came into this fight as a replacement, while Smolka has had a full camp. Look for a Smolka victory, but I think Moreno shows heart and goes the distance. I predict Louis Smolka to win by unanimous decision.
The co-main event of the evening will be fun to watch, as Will Brooks fights for the second time in the UFC against Alex Oliveira. Oliveira is a up and comer, but he missed weight by five and a half pounds. That angered Brooks, who looked away from Oliveira during the weigh-in stare offs. I see Will Brooks taking his aggression out on Oliveira, claiming a unanimous decision.
And now the main event. John Lineker will have his heavy hands flying, which will wear down John Dodson. I predict that John Lineker will knock out John Dodson in the fourth round.
