What a dream come true for Chris Weidman. The New Yorker gets to fight in his hometown against Yoel Romero in the first NYC UFC event.
What will be even better for Weidman is winning in front of his home crowd, something that will be extremely challenging. Yoel Romero is a strong fighter and can end a fight in the drop of a dime. He did get in trouble due to PED’s earlier this year, but that doesn’t make him any less dangerous. The good thing for Weidman is he can wrestle with the best of them. His best chance of winning is to take Romero down and wear him out. If he doesn’t, it could be a long night. If Chris Weidman uses his instincts that helped him defeat Anderson Silva, it could be a return to the top for him. Being a former Middleweight Champion, he knows what it takes to win big fights.
I think that Chris Weidman will win this fight by split decision over Yoel Romero.
