Frankie Edgar is on the road to the featherweight title, or so it seems like he has for a few years now. Edgar has been very close a few times to featherweight gold, while other times he’s waiting for the title to be defended. It can’t be easy being a top featherweight right now, knowing all he can do is fight and hope he eventually gets a shot.
In comes Jeremy Stephens. A fighter not known as well as other guys, but still a great fighter. He’s exactly what he calls himself: a knockout artist. The power to stop a fight is a dangerous tool to have and Stephens has it. His only problem is his struggle to win big fights. Pettis, Cerrone, Swanson and Oliveira all have defeated Stephens, so he will have to show he’s for real in possibly the biggest fight of his career. Can he slow Edgar down and avoid the takedown? If he cannot, it could be smooth sailing for Frankie.
In what could be one of the craziest moments of the night, I think Jeremy Stephens will knock out Frankie Edgar in the third round.
