CLEVELAND, Ohio– Tyree Appleby (Jacksonville, Ark./Jacksonville) has been selected as the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for his performance in Cleveland State’s two games last week.
It is the first career honor for Appleby.
Appleby averaged 10.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games last week, while shooting .562 (9-16) from the floor.
In Wednesday’s win over Arkansas State, Appleby scored seven points and dished out a career-high seven assists. He also added two rebounds and two steals. On Saturday at Kent State, Appleby poured in 13 points, hitting 6-of-10 from the field, add added three rebounds and a steal.
Through seven games this year, Appleby is averaging 9.9 points. He ranks 15th in the League in assists (2.7) and 13th in steals (1.4).
The Vikings are back in action for two games this week, traveling to Western Michigan for a 7:00 pm contest on Wednesday (Dec. 6) and returning home to host Notre Dame (OH) on Sunday (Dec. 10) at 2:00 pm.
