ESPN Insider Adam Schefter had the NFL nation and twitter in quite a stir this morning. The long time news breaker tweeted out that former Secretary of State, Condolezza Rice would be interviewing for the Browns head coaching job. Here is some reaction via twitter after the story broke.
Before Super Bowl 40 Condaleeza Rice told me she would like to be NFL Commissioner one day. https://t.co/7PEK9tY61r

Condoleezza Rice is a huge #Browns fan, and while I have no doubt she can deftly negotiate a peace treaty, not sure she’s ready for the AFC North.

Look, is Condoleezza Rice going to get the #Browns HC job?
No.
But I'm definitely here amused at knowing she knows more about football than 99% of the people dismissing her on Twitter.

All for interviewing Condoleezza Rice. Strong, intelligent, driven woman. Noted Browns fan. College Football Playoff Committee member. If nothing else, you could at least get her thoughts on the direction of the organization. #Browns

Big fan of Condoleezza Rice. Always advocated for her to be an exec in the NFL New York offices or even considered as the first female as Commissioner. But head coach?! No. Browns need to focus less on PR stunts like this or hiring MLB stats guys & more on the product.

On a serious note though, it's not like the Cleveland Browns could get any worse, so why not give Condoleezza Rice a chance – she might surprise everyone. What do the #clevelandbrowns have to lose?

Condoleezza Rice would win more games as the Browns head coach than Hue Jackson did.

Since then Browns GM John Dorsey and Condolezza Rice herself have released statements.

Here’s the statement made about fourty minutes ago from Rice’s Facebook account.
“I love my Browns — and I know they will hire an experienced coach to take us to the next level.
On a more serious note, I do hope that the NFL will start to bring women into the coaching profession as position coaches and eventually coordinators and head coaches. One doesn’t have to play the game to understand it and motivate players. But experience counts — and it is time to develop a pool of experienced women coaches.
BTW — I’m not ready to coach but I would like to call a play or two next season if the Browns need ideas! And at no time will I call for a “prevent defense.”
Looks like it’s safe to say the Browns won’t be bringing Rice in for an interview after all.
