Hiram College, Hiram (OH) – The Hiram College Terriers proved their worth with a definitive victory over the Earlham College Quakers.
The Quakers were the first to get on the board with a 57-yard touchdown run from Brandon Kinney inside the first minute of the game. Hiram would then retaliate with a six-yard run from junior quarterback Randy Tucker, making the score 7-6 after a failed two-point conversion from the Terriers. At the end of the first quarter, Quaker kicker Justin Kerobo’s 27-yard field-goal pushed a early 10-6 lead over Hiram.
Hiram would then score 28 unanswered points in the second half, which all were passing touchdowns from Tucker, giving the Terriers a 34-10 lead heading into halftime.
Tucker’s vision was all downfield to multiple receivers, continuing his dominant performance throughout the second half. Tucker converted two more passing touchdowns, one to wide receiver Moe Yarbrough and the second to Jarvis Foreman. Earlham’s Wesley Hundley would answer with four passing touchdowns to cut the lead to 48-35 in Hiram’s favor.
Randy Tucker would then go to score a rushing touchdown, and he would end the game with eight touchdowns in total, six passing and two rushing. Tucker broke the school record today for most passing touchdowns in a game. He originally tied the record at five last season in the final game against the Oberlin College Yeomen.
Earlham would score the final touchdown with a two-yard run from Running Back Xavier Flores, marking the final score 63-41.
The Hiram College Terriers following the bye-week start the season 1-0, and the Earlham College Quakers fall to 0-2 on the 2017 campaign. Hiram is set to play DePauw (Ind.) on Saturday, Sept.16 at 1:00 p.m. Earlham is set to face Anderson on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 1:30 p.m.
