CANTON, OHIO – It doesn’t happen too often that both teams meeting in the state title game entered the playoffs with a vengeance factor.
Trotwood-Madison entered seeking to finish the season with a win, as they lost in week 15 just a season ago, Tri-Valley on the other hand finished last season 9-1 and just one spot shy of making the postseason.
So when the ball kicked off Saturday night, most expected a hard fought competitive game, not sure anyone expected this closely a contested game though.
This was one of those games where the winner was going to have earn it, both teams didn’t want to give up but unfortunately for the Tri-Valley Scotties their dream season ended with a loss.
As Trotwood-Madison won their second state title in school history by hanging on for a 27-19 victory.
The Rams were led by Raveion Hargrave (141 yards), but it was the was senior William McDaniel who put on the clutch jeans tonight.
McDaniel scored the final touchdowns of the game to first take back the lead, then to extend the led to eight rather than just two. That score crucial as the Tri-Valley would make play after play on their final drive to keep giving themselves a chance.
Until Tri-Valley quarterback Andrew Newsom made his only mistake of the night when he forced a throw into double coverage and the Rams made him pay.
Trotwood-Madison finished off their perfect season in historic fashion as they scored 719 points on the season good for 5th most all-time in the entire state of Ohio.
To have the offensive success the Rams had for 15 weeks while also not losing a game is truly incredible and all of Montgomery county should be extremely proud of the Trotwood-Madison football team.
