Tribe’s Offense Come Out In Full Force, Defeat Royals 5-0; Three Takeaways From The Victory

The Cleveland Indians looked to continue their work in Kansas City as they took on the Royals for the second game in the three-game set. The Tribe had an abundance of runs yesterday, scoring ten on Kansas City en route to a 10-1 victory. Tonight was no different as the offense came out in full force to provide run support from starter Trevor Bauer, who is on a roll of his own as of late.

Let’s talk about the game with our three takeaways.

1. Bruce Continues To Hit For The Tribe- Jay Bruce was acquired about a week and a half ago. Since he has made the jump to Cleveland from the New York Mets, he is batting .389 with 12 runs batted in while riding a nine-game hitting streak. The production level exceeds what most fans expected from the power-hitting right fielder, making the decision for the Indians that much harder when Lonnie Chisenhall returns from injury? Does Lonnie get his spot back when he returns from his rehab stint or will Bruce become a regular fixture in the outfield, leaving Lonnie to platoon for the rest of the season?

2. Bauer Continues To Strengthen The Back End Of The Rotation- Trevor Bauer has continued to turn the page on his early season struggles and tonight further highlighted the transition he began to make around the beginning of the second half. Bauer went 6.1 innings tonight without allowing any runs to score. The Royals were able to get seven hits but could never do any damage against Bauer. He was very efficient and didn’t allow many free passes, issuing only two walks on the night while striking out four batters. With the injury to Josh Tomlin, Bauer has been expected to sure up the back of the rotation and he sure has answered the call to this point.

3. Offense Finding Its Groove- The offense tonight was super efficient in all areas tonight. The five runs scored eased the pressure off Trevor Bauer and the bullpen led by reliever Bryan Shaw tonight, which is always good. Earlier in the year, there were talks of the offense going stagnant. Those talks have all but been silenced by the offense. With nine hits by the team tonight, they seem to be finding their flow at the dish, if they haven’t already done so.
