Cleveland- The Guardians were down 5-0 in the 6th inning when Jose Ramirez hit a double down the first base line. Ramirez slid between the legs of White Sox’s Tim Anderson to safely make it to second base. When Ramirez got to his feet Anderson took a right-handed hook at Cleveland’s third baseman. Ramirez wasn’t having that and swung back at Anderson knocking him to the ground. Fans chanting “Jose Jose Jose” rang throughout the ballpark as both benches cleared.

However, this was far from over. Skipper Terry Francona came out and he was shortly ejected as the benches cleared yet again. Guardians’ third base coach, Mike Sarbaugh, joined the scuttle as a White Sox player grabbed Ramirez around the neck. The umpires had lost complete control by this point.
Anderson was forced off the field by his teammates only to emerge minutes later from the clubhouse. Finally, Chicago’s Andrew Vaughn physically carried Anderson off the field.
This mayhem caused a 15-minute delay in the game and resulted in six ejections. Ramirez, Anderson, Francona, Sarbaugh, Pedro Grifol and Emmanuel Clase were all tossed.
Ramirez and Anderson will likely face league suspensions.
Saturday night’s firework theme night – “Rock ‘N’ Blast” took on a whole new meaning.
