WrestleMania. The Showcase of The Immortals. The Grandest Stage of Them All. There’s no doubt about it, this is the biggest time of the year for WWE superstars. WrestleMania is the only event in WWE that can take a mid-carder and propel them to a household name after the night is over. That is why this year’s WrestleMania needs to be different. There are too many mid-carders and not enough household names. With that being said, there are three superstars in my mind that need a WrestleMania win more than anyone else on the roster.
1. AJ Styles- The “Phenomenal One” has been in a never-ending feud with Chris Jericho since he has arrived in the WWE. After we saw the two battle three times, we watched as WWE randomly paired the two as a tag team known as “Y2AJ”. What sounded like a weird way to use AJ Styles at WrestleMania really was just a decoy for another chapter in the AJ-Y2J feud after the team fell short of winning the WWE Tag Team Titles from The New Day on the March 7 edition of Raw. So, as fans get ready for Styles-Jericho IV, it is crucial that Styles wins this match. WWE needs a guy like AJ Styles in the main event conversation. Why? Because the fans love everything about Styles. He is a well-rounded wrestler and has a likable personality. Besides, Jericho put Fandango over at WrestleMania 29, so him losing to a credible wrestler wouldn’t be the worst thing to have ever happened to him on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
2. Kevin Owens- I find it hard to believe that WWE somehow manages to misuse KO in every feud he has been in in the besides his feud with Dean Ambrose. Owens is a fantastic wrestler that draws major heat for everything he says or does. Instead, WWE decides to keep Owens in the land of irrelevancy known as the mid-card. Owens is one of the best wrestlers the company has to offer, which is why he deserves to be put in feuds with wrestlers that are on his talent level. If the rumors are true and Owens gets to face his former best friend Sami Zayn at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental Title, then Owens should get the victory in a match that could be the match of the night. If done right, this WrestleMania could mark the end of the mid-card era of Kevin Owens and catapult him into the WWE World Heavyweight Title picture.
3. Bray Wyatt-Can Bray Wyatt finally be recognized for the talent he is? The “Eater of Worlds” has fell short in most of his feuds in the WWE, which is a shame considering Wyatt is another superstar fans like and want to see get a shot at the spotlight. It has been difficult for the WWE Universe to rally behind Wyatt and his destructive family due to the group’s failure to win big matches. Wyatt has not been booked for a match at WrestleMania yet, which is already a miscue on WWE’s part. Wyatt is one of the only wrestlers on the roster who knows how to elevate a feud with a single promo. With his ability to captivate a crowd, it’s a shame that he doesn’t have a match booked by now. With all of the big names already in matches and two weeks left before the biggest show of the year, Wyatt looks to be on the outside looking in. With reports of Wyatt suffering from a back injury coming out, maybe it would be best for Wyatt to sit WrestleMania out this year and rest up.
Those are just three of many that deserve a chance at the spotlight. This year’s WrestleMania can build momentum for the future and showcase the stars of tomorrow.
