1. Trade with New Orleans Pelicans for DeMarcus Cousins- This is by far the most attractive acquisition the team can make. adding Boogie Cousins is an absolute blockbuster move and makes the team so much better. In order to swindle Cousins away from the Pelicans, you would have to say goodbye to Tristan Thompson, the 2018 Brooklyn Nets first-round pick and the 2020 Miami Heat 2nd round pick. Heck, maybe even throwing in Shumpert would be a possibility if the Pelicans feel they need a little more in this deal. Either way, it’s completely worth it for the Cavs. what you lose in Thompson, you gain in Cousins. his rebounding is superb and he can continue to move the offense when given the ball in a precarious position, unlike Thompson who struggles to find the basket from further than four feet out. While there is a problem with Cousins’ attitude dividing teams, LeBron was able to work with J.R. Smith and work him into a good teammate, so there is no worry about him being able to do the same with Cousins.
Cousins is just unreal at every facet of the game. An effortless scorer who has a knack for rebounding at will, cousins is one of the best big men in the game and it would truly be exciting to see what he can do when put into a position to win. The last time he had a chance to actually compete was when he played for John Calipari at the University of Kentucky back in 2010. it would a shame if Cousins can’t ever make it to an NBA Finals or even an important game in May because of his placement on bad teams. The big man has way too much talent to be working with mediocrity.
Sure, Tristan is a great teammate and you know what you have with him in terms of a great rebounder. But eventually, his lack of offensive production will eventually make him a tad bit more expendable. especially if Ante Zizic and Edy Tavares start to come around and Kevin Love takes over at center.
