1.) Isaiah Thomas Still Bright Feature on the Team
Isaiah Thomas is not expected to play his first game with the Cleveland Cavaliers until December/January. After one game with Derrick Rose as the starting Point Guard, it appears that the team can hold their own up until then…as long as Rose stays healthy.
The following is a comparison of Kyrie Irving’s and Thomas’ numbers from the 2016-17 season:
Thomas is 28 years old, averaged 28.9 PPG, 5.9 APG, and had a WARP (Wins Above Replacement Players) of 15.4.
Irving is 25 years old, averaged 25.2 PPG, 5.8 APG, and had a WARP of 10.5.
Thomas had a fantastic 2016-17 campaign and is looking to duplicate or improve his numbers from last season.
Isaiah comes with a lot of upside when he returns from injury.
Include the fact that Rose was able to score 14 points, add 2 assists, and grab 4 rebounds while playing 31 minutes, it gives Cavaliers fans hope while they wait until the debut of Isaiah Thomas in a Cavaliers uniform.
The only concern is if Rose can stay healthy and you will hear that often this year but as of right now Rose has said it himself that he feels like he is in his best-playing shape this season.
Rose even provided a buzzer beater to close out the 3rd quarter.
