It’d be a no-brainer to say that Game 1 did not go as planned for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs fell to the Indiana Pacers by a final score of 98-80 on Sunday, the team’s first loss in the first round since LeBron James’ return. James finished with a triple-double but his efforts couldn’t pick up the slack from his teammates. Only two players besides James hit double figures, that being JR Smith and Larry Nance Jr. Ironically enough, both of those guys came off the bench.
The other four starters combined for twenty-five points, just one tally higher than James’ total. In what has become an underlying issue no matter the roster, Cleveland just doesn’t know who their third option is. The postseason opener didn’t help solve that and it certainly doesn’t seem like a good idea to try to figure this out now.
But Game 2 is on Wednesday and the Cavaliers must defend home court in hopes they don’t fall into an alarming 2-0 deficit. With that, here are three adjustments the team needs to make to help their chances of winning.
