3. Carlos Carrasco’s Early Struggles
Regardless of the win, Carrasco’s final stat line shows exactly how the Indians found themselves down 9-2 at one point.
In just three and one-third innings, Carrasco gave up eight earned runs on just six hits. Three of those runs came via homers. He struck out seven batters while walking three.
The bleeding began early in the first inning. After an RBI double from Nomar Mazara, Adrian Beltre belted a three-run homer to give the Rangers a 4-0 lead with zero outs.
In the second inning, Carrasco gave up his second three-run homer of the night to Elvis Andrus. A final home run from Joey Gallo effectively ended Carrasco’s night with the Tribe in an 8-2 hole.

If it weren’t for the offense bailing him out late, Carrasco looked poised to pick up his fourth loss of the year. Instead, he ultimately ended up not factoring into the decision.
