The Long Ball Helps the Indians and Bauer Top Cubs 4-1; Three Takeaways From the Win

1. Solid Night for Bauer

The Indians starter went 6.2 innings, throwing 111 pitches, 68 strikes as he improves his 2018 mark to 2-2 on the season with the 4-1 win.

Bauer walked three and struck out eight, and got some key outs when needed, like after Brandon Guyer’s error in the 6th that put a runner on with two outs, he came back to K Ian Happ to end the frame.

After the game Bauer said he still wasn’t 100 percent happy with his slider, but it was more than enough to get the job done against the Cubs, as he allowed just four hits in the win, lowering his already solid ERA to 2.41.
