The Indians Looking for Offense Against the Twins in Game Two – the Tribe Starting Nine

Opening day wasn’t exactly a thing of beauty from an offensive perspective for the Indians, as the team didn’t score a run, putting up two hits and a walk in an eventual 2-0 loss to the Twins at Target Field.

The team was dominated by Twins starter Jose Berrios, and then Tyler Mays came in and wrapped it up, never allowing the Indians a shot to get a runner across the plate.

The one good chance for the Indians came in the fourth when Leonys Martin started the frame with a double, but then Jose Ramirez, Tyler Naquin and Hanley Ramirez failed to get him home, ending the Tribe’s best shot.

While the offense did nothing, ace Corey Kluber gave the Indians a great shot to get a win, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

Three Twins hits in the seventh were enough though to put two runs across the plate and also send Kluber to another opening day loss.

Today the Tribe will look to finally get some offense, and to do it they will send Trevor Bauer to the mound, coming off a season in which he was in the Cy Young talk for the AL until he got hurt early in August in Chicago.

While Bauer will go for the Indians, Jake Odorizzi will be on the hill for Minnesota looking to keep up the momentum.

The Indians pounded the Twins Saturday starter last season, beating him all five times he started against the Tribe, and personally Odorizzi suffered three losses.

His best start against the Indians came August 30th when he went 5.1 innings (the only outing in 2018 against the Indians he went over five innings), allowing three runs in an eventual 9-5 Tribe win.

Here’s hoping for the Indians today they can duplicate the effort and get back to 1-1.

Here’s the starting nine today for the Tribe:

Leonys Martin CF
Jose Ramirez 3B
Tyler Naquin RF
Carlos Santana 1B
Hanley Ramirez DH
Jake Bauers LF
Roberto Perez C
Brad Miller 2B
Max Moroff SS

And here’s Minnesota’s starting lineup:
