The Major League Baseball trade deadline is at the end of the month, and the Indians, a team that clearly is going to be playing October baseball for the third straight season, look like they are going to be buyers on the trade market.
Last season the teams biggest pickup didn’t even happen at the deadline, but after, as the club acquired Jay Bruce to play the outfield from the Mets after Michael Brantley hurt his ankle. The Tribe also picked up relief pitcher Joe Smith in a move with the Jays that did happen at the deadline.
Two seasons ago the team was ‘all in’ at the deadline, making a move that didn’t work out for catcher Jonathan Lucroy, but a huge move that did take place and paid off was grabbing relief stud Andrew Miller, who was a key in getting the Indians to the World Series.
This year the team has again their sights set on making it to the Fall Classic, but know they are not a finished product yet, and will look for help from other teams.
Today we look at a ‘wishlist’ if you will at players the team might try to go after, and players the team might want to think about come the end of the month.
