It’s official – Odell Beckham Jr’s time in Cleveland is over. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network broke the news, stating that the Browns have released Odell Beckham Jr. after the team came to agreement with Beckham’s representatives on his contract:
Sources: The #Browns are releasing star WR Odell Beckham Jr., as the two sides came together on a resolution to end his Cleveland tenure. At long last, he’s out and he’ll head to waivers.

Just minutes later, Browns EVP & GM Andrew Berry released the following statement:
“After careful consideration, internal discussions and conversations with Odell and his representation, we’ve determined that it is in the best interest of all parties involved that Odell no longer play for the Cleveland Browns. We appreciate all his efforts and contributions while in Cleveland, but we’ve just reached a point where it is best that we move forward as a team without Odell. We are finalizing the process of granting Odell his release and we wish him well as he continues his career.”
Beckham will depart Cleveland after 29 games with 114 receptions for 1,586 yards and seven touchdowns. He also recorded eight rushes for 96 yards and one touchdown.
It should be interesting to see where Beckham Jr. could land next. Many believe that he’ll be picked up by the Raiders, or possibly the Ravens or Saints. There’s no doubt that OBJ is a talented player, just look at his time with the Giants. But things never clicked with him and the Browns. But maybe another team can utilize him to his full potential.
What do you think about the Browns decision to release Odell Beckham Jr.?
