Miles Garrett DE 2017 1st pick overall
Courtney Brown DE 2000 1st pick overall
Miles Garrett has become a force playing for Greg Williams. In 16 career games, Garrett has 12 sacks, 27 quarterback hits, 13 tackles for a loss and 52 combined tackles. He also has three forced fumbles and three pass deflections. His consistent dominance as a pass rusher has made life easier as a whole for Cleveland’s defense.
In Courtney Brown’s first 16 games he totaled 4.5 sacks, five quarterback hits, 16 tackles for a loss and 69 combined tackles. He had zero combined forced fumbles and pass deflections. His tackle numbers standout but his production as a pass rusher is underwhelming.
The comparison between the two isn’t close and Garrett is by far the better pass rusher. Brown’s 9.5 combined sacks and quarterback hits is about a fourth of what Garrett has produced (39) in the same amount of games. Overall Garrett has also had more impact plays with six combined pass deflections and forced fumbles compared to Brown’s zero.
