MEADVILLE, PA– Big possessions determined this matchup, as the Hiram Terriers fell to the Allegheny Gators 57-40. The Gators would go on to post six touchdowns of over 20 yards or more, five consisting of passing and one rushing.
The Terriers would open the game with the first two scores, featuring a pair of touchdowns from quarterback Randy Tucker, he would finish the game with three and not return to the game in the second half. Allegheny would score 21 of their 36 first half points on turnovers. The Terrier turnovers of a fumble and muffed punt would help push the Gator lead to 36-19 at the end of the first half.
With every Hiram score, Allegheny would retaliate with their own points on the board. Hiram would score first in the second half with a 49-yard pass from Sophomore quarterback Rodney Myers Jr. to wide receiver Moe Yarbrough, Yarbrough would also score the two-point conversion to tighten the score differential.
After this possession, Allegheny’s quarterback Logan Lee would heave a 65-yard touchdown pass that put the lead back up to 17. Hiram would come back and score from wide receiver Luther Fortson III, he would finish the day with three touchdowns for the Terriers.
The Gators would score the next drive to push the lead back out to 17, the Terriers would not cut the deficit any closer for the rest of the contest.
The Hiram College Terriers will drop to 1-3, and the Allegheny Gators will improve to 2-2.
The Gators will have a bye week upcoming to prepare for Hiram’s upcoming opponent, Wittenberg University. The Gators face the Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1:00 p.m. in Springfield, Ohio.
Hiram will play back at Henry Field against the Wittenberg University Tigers, this is scheduled for Saturday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m.
