As the Browns take on the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Oct. 2, one of the most interesting matchups to watch will feature breakout wide receiver Terrelle Pryor against star cornerback Josh Norman.
Norman is the highest paid cornerback in NFL history, but has been criticized for not living up to that hype through three games this season. Although his first two games were not quite up to par, last week’s duel against Odell Beckham Jr. was every bit as exciting as fans could expect.
Now he has the challenge of going up against one of the rising stars, the versatile Pryor, who in some ways has been the face of the Browns offense.
Pryor played well in his first two games this season, but exploded onto the scene in Week 3 and now no one in the league will overlook all the different ways he can affect the game.
Heading into week 4, Pryor was asked about going up against Norman, who has a reputation of talking trash.
“I’m 6-5, 230, I’m not worried about no corner talking about me. Period,” Pryor told Cleveland.com.
Pryor did acknowledge that he will have to keep his cool, no matter the circumstances.
“I just want to keep on controlling my emotions because I know I can get too into a game,” he said. “I can get real feisty and real combative in a way. I want to get better at that because it can hurt the team.”
As impressive as Pryor was last Sunday in Miami, he had the element of surprise on his side and wasn’t exactly going against an elite secondary.
Although Pryor is a confident guy, he has a great deal of respect for Norman and looks forward to the challenge presented this Sunday.
“I’m excited to go against Josh Norman because he’s one of the best corners in the league,” said Pryor. “I just want to test myself with him, test myself with anyone we play.”
This week could be his first true test and a better measurement of whether or not that performance in Miami was a sign of things to expect going forward or just an outlier.
