NEO Sports Insiders high school basketball reporter Terone Burkes gives us his Top 8 teams as of Feb. 1.
Terone’s Top 8 in Northeast Ohio
1) St. Ignatius 11-4.. Arguably the best frontcourt in the area.
2) St. Edward 11-4… Anytime you have Flannery as a coach you’re in every game.
3) Lorain 12-2… A well coached team full of athletes who love to run. J.Little is one of the most underrated players in the area.
4) St. Vincent St. Mary… 12-4… This team will go as far their guards take them.
5) Garfield Heights… 12-4.. If the frontcourt players can play consistently, this might be the year they can raise the banner at states. Very talented backcourt.
6) Cornerstone Christian 12-4… They have one of the toughest schedules in the region and should have more wins. A well-coached team, led by B. McQueen who plays both ends of the floor. Can’t wait to see them against Lutheran East again for the state title.
7) Archbishop Hoban.. 14-1… 14 straight wins.. Enough said
8) Cleveland Heights 10-5.. The talent is there. Let’s see if they can close out games late.
Next up…. Maple Heights 12-2….. Benedictine 12-3… Mentor 11-3… Holy Name 13-2 ?????
