STOW, Ohio– It was a perfect night for Thursday night football. The Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs (6-1, 3-0) hosted their biggest rival, The Hudson Explorers (6-1, 3-0). The Bulldogs were hoping to celebrate Senior Night and avenge last year’s 25-24 loss with a win. The winner of the game would be in second place in the Suburban-National League.
The Bulldogs received to start the game and Seniors Coryon Rice and Terrian Wray made their presence felt. Though the Dogs were forced to punt on their first drive, they wouldn’t have to wait long for their second. Explorer Senior QB Colt Pallay threw an interception on their second play of the game at The Dogs took over at their 48 yard line. On the very first play of their second drive, QB Coryon Rice took the rock 52 yards to the house on a sweet run. After the PAT The Dogs were up 7-0.
The Explorers didn’t take long to get going though, Sr. RB Kevin Callahan had a 17 yard run and then Sr. QB Colt Pallay connected with Jr. Brandon Lai for a 17 yard pitch and catch. Sr. Colin Paltani got in on the fun with a 15 yard reception, but The Explorers had to settle for a field goal after a false start and an 8 yard sack. The Dogs started right were they left off with Rice running for 39 yards behind Sr. G Richard Morrocco and the offensive line. After completing a pass to Sr. Timothy Luketich, Wray and Rice rushed The Dogs down the field and Rice finished it with a 4 yard TD run and PAT to go up 14-3.
After a fumble by Explorer Sr. RB Brady Ludewig, Stow took over. They were forced to settle for a field goal attempt, but Hudson blocked it and took over at their own 48 yard line. Pallay then got Hudson back into the game. He started off with a 9 yard run and two plays later hit Paltani for a 28 yard reception. He finished the drive with a 10 yard TD run to move his team within four at 14-10. Stow then took command of the game and never looked backed. Rice scored on a 9 yard touchdown run to take a 21-10 lead into half.
The Bulldogs came out of halftime with a onside kick and recovery. Rice found the end zone again as the Dogs comfortably took a 28-10 lead. They would go on to win 35-23 and move into second place in their conference. The Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs travel to Cuyahoga Falls to play The Black Tigers next Friday. The Hudson Explorers look to get back on track versus Twinsburg.
