BRUNSWICK, OHIO – This game was the first conference game for both teams. Solon’s two wins coming into Friday night came against the Greenmen of Aurora and the Tigers of Twinsburg.

Their one loss came from Stow-Munroe Falls. Brunswick’s two losses were at the hands Austintown-Fitch and Brecksville Broadview Heights while their one win was their first game of the season against Highland. This is the first conference game for both teams.

As for this game, Solon put their proverbial foot on the throats of the Blue Devils and did not let up. Quarterback Joe Bubonics and Darryl Sinclair would get things started with a 50+-yard touch down pass.

The two point conversion would be good after a switching of the field and a fumble into the end zone; very exciting first score of the game.

Sinclair would score again on a punt return again for over 50 yards to put the Comets up 14-0. PAT after punt return would be no good.

Solon’s Thomas Wilks would add on to the score with a 33-yard touch down run to extend the Comet’s lead to 21. Solon’s Sinclair would have to leave the game with an ankle injury.

Brunswick would finally answer back with a touch down run from Jake Martin off the read option pitch from Brunswick quarterback Cole Zamiska.

Solon would answer back however with a 60+-yard touch down reception from Bubonics to Taj Ward. Brunswick Solon

That would do it for the first quarter. As for the second quarter, the scoring continued for Solon. Wilks would add another TD to his night on a 2 –yard run to put Solon up 34-7, PAT no good. Brunswick would fumble to ball their next possession in their own territory, and allow the Comets to go up another touchdown thanks to a 25-yard pass from Bubonics.

The score going into half-time would be Solon 40, Brunswick 7.

In the second half of play, Wilks would score again for the Comets on a 61-yard run. However, we would see some life from Brunswick as Zamiska broke out for a 53-yard run for touchdown to bring the score 47-14 to start the 4th quarter.

The majority of time remaining in the game would be handed over to the second string for Solon and Brunswick. Jake Vadini scored from 30 yards out for Brunswick to cuts Solon’s lead down to 26. Solon’s back-up squad would score once more before the game would end bringing your final score to 53-21 Solon over Brunswick.

After this game, Solon now has an overall record of 3-1 and Brunswick and overall record of 1-3. Solon 1-0 in conference play, Brunswick 0-1 in conference play. Next weekend for both teams; Solon is at home against Euclid, and Brunswick is on the road in Elyria.
