First quarter blues
The Cavaliers once again allowed nearly 40 points in the first quarter, as Detroit finished with 38. This has become a trend for Cleveland lately, in there last three losses the Cavaliers have allowed an average of 38.6 points in the first quarter. The Cavaliers last played five days ago, and were able to get a few days of practice but still struggled out of the gate. There is no one answer fix to the slow starts, but if they want to be competitive in games this trend needs to be bucked.
As the young roster continues to learn, and grow as a team losses are to be expected but to come out of the locker room flat after a mini-vacation is a tough look. Ultimately Cleveland was able to come back late and make it respectable, but it was only once they switched to a zone.
