2.) Some Teams Are Going to Be Set Back for Years
These same GMs that are going after these QBs will get themselves an extension or a quick kick out the door. Not only have they been forcing the picks for QBs and reaching, they are giving up a lot to do it. Houston has now given up its first and second round picks next year for Watson. The Chiefs gave up a first and third for Maholmes. Chicago gave up three middle of the draft picks for one spot.
Philly gave up a first, second, and third for Wentz. Los Angeles gave up an extra first, two seconds, and two thirds for Goff. Washington gave up three first round picks and a second for Robert Griffin III. These front offices are giving up so much value for a QB that if they fail to hit, not only do they not draft another QB for a couple years while they wait to see if their pick pans out, they lose out on taking other talented players high in the Draft that could have improved the roster.
In the end, they wait two years or so for that player to fizzle out and start back from scratch setting the franchise back a few years. There is no way all these QBs over the last two years will hit so we will see what teams end up rebuilding.
