2. The Browns have two other QBs with experience
Keep in mind that Josh McCown came into this season as the unquestioned starter and many believe that McCown will get his starting job back as soon as he’s cleared to return from concussion protocol. Mike Pettine admitted that if McCown would have been cleared to practice on Friday, he would have started Sunday against the Titans, which is pretty telling. Besides McCown, the Browns also signed young quarterback Austin Davis, who started several games for the St. Louis Rams last season and had moderate success. Davis went 3-5 in eight starts for the Rams, throwing for 2,001 yards with 12 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. The 26-year-old broke Brett Favre’s school records at Southern Miss. At 6-2, he’s taller than the 5-11 Manziel. He could be the QB prospect they’ve been looking for. With McCown and Davis on the roster, the time could be right to move Manziel.
