6. Suddenly, this season doesn’t seem as lost as it did last week
Fans were predicting 2-14 and the first pick in the draft and the firing of both Pettine and GM Ray Farmer. Now, with the 5-0 Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning coming to town, that game doesn’t seem as formidable as it did last week.
This was supposed to be the hard part of the schedule, and the teams in the AFC North – except the 5-0 Bengals, and even they seem suspect – appear beatable. The defending NFC champion Seahawks are also 2-3, as are the Rams, who are playing the Browns in two weeks.
The Browns are showing that they can move the ball against anyone offensively, and that’s exciting. Now, the Denver defense –which is the main reason why the Broncos are 5-0 and not the legendary Manning – is a different animal entirely. But McCown has the unit playing with confidence. If the defense can get its act together, look out!
There’s still a long way to go in the NFL season, and all the good tidings and well wishes will be long forgotten if they lose to Denver, the Rams and the Arizona Cardinals over the next three weeks. But a win is a win any way you can get it.
Until next time, remember that Cleveland Rocks!
