3. The Defense Made Stops When it Counted
The defese struggled against Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, running back Justin Forsett and the cast of characters masquerading as a receiving corps Sunday, they made the stops when they counted. First, the goal-line stand at the end of regulation that forced the Ravens to settle for a game-tying field goal. Then, the quick three-and-out to start overtime in which Baltimore failed to gain a single yard.
Haden started and, while he struggled in coverage, he essentially made three one-handed tackles before leaving the game with a concussion. Tackling was an issue at times, and they had trouble getting a pass rush against the Ravens, only sacking Flacco twice.
The statistics showed a defense that was shredded for 377 total yards and 121 yards rushing by Forsett – both below the unit’s lowly averages in each category. But it was the Ravens defense that was sucking win at the end of the game, not the Browns’.
