According to Adam Schefter, the Browns were actively shopping Josh Gordon before he decided to enter rehab.
Here’s an excerpt from the article:
The Browns had discussions about Gordon with other teams as recently as last week and were looking to acquire a first- or second-day draft pick, sources told Schefter.
But Gordon’s trade value crashed after his announcement Thursday that he will enter the rehab facility, citing a need to “gain full control of my life.”
One source familiar with Gordon’s case told Schefter that the receiver would not have decided to enter the facility “without slipping up.”
It makes no difference now, but perhaps the Browns knew something was coming down the pipe and thought they could get something of value in return before the truth came out.
Regardless, the Browns will move on without him going forward, and it’s not like they really lost a key contributor because he hasn’t been on the field since 2014.
